Blackberry Productions set up a MailChimp account for ongoing email marketing campaigns. They planned to send regular, content-rich newsletters, as well as occassional emails with time-sensitive information such as a promotions or offer.
Emails needed to look polished and professional, inline with the company branding. As a busy team with limited technical knowledge, customising one of the free MailChimp templates (pictured left) wouldn’t have been viable.
As email marketing would be carried out in-house, the process of producing and sending emails needed to be as efficient as possible. Content would be published regurlarly on the company website and a system was needed for sharing newly published blog content by email.
The main aim of the Blackberry Productions email marketing campaign is to build relationships with their subscribers and generate an increased number of visitors to the website.
Branded email templates for both an eNewsletter and an eFlyer were designed and developed into HTML email templates. Once developed, they were heavily tested in web browsers, on mobile devices and again in all major email clients including various versions of Outlook, Hotmail and Gmail.
Once the emails displayed beautifully in each test, the templates were integrated with MailChimp. Placeholders were used to personalise the emails and social buttons were included to encourage social sharing.
Finally, a solution was identified to ensure that regular eNewsletters took no time at all to produce. An automated RSS campaign was created to automatically generate a monthly eNewsletter, highlighting blog posts which have been published since the last campaign was sent. The email displays the title and the first paragraph of each post, with a link back to the website to contine reading.
